Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (or TRE®) is a simple series of gentle exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, Ph.D., TRE safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking, vibrating, and/or swaying that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating/swaying mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. The vibrations in the body slowly release fascia holding bones, muscles, and organs in place. The easing of the fascia allows the body to slowly relax and dissipate stored up tension. This gentle practice allows for stories in the body to then be released, letting the wisdom of the body to do its own work.
